Description
Uganda is landlocked and has abundant natural resources, including fertile soils, regular rainfall and mineral deposits of copper and cobalt. The country has untapped reserves of crude oil and natural gas. Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy, employing 80% of the population. Coffee accounts for the bulk of its exports which also include tea, fish and fish products, tobacco, cotton, beans, honey and sesame. The government's extensive privatization programme has opened up industries to the private sector.
