Equatorial Guinea is Sub-Saharan Africa's third biggest oil producer. Large oil and gas deposits were discovered off Bioko in the 1990s and their exploitation has driven fantastic growth. Forestry, farming, and fishing are also major components of the country's GDP, although years of bad governance affected rural farming which diminished potential for agriculture led growth. The country's main exports include petroleum, timber and cocoa.
