APRIL 2010 ISSUE 15
In this issue we examine how investors in West Africa will benefit from the adoption of a Monetary Union. Several initiatives have recently been launched to draw foreign investors into Africa and we have included some new products that have been introduced to complement existing incentive regimes. The long overdue quest for a single currency in the West Africa Monetary Zone (WAMZ) becomes a reality in 2015. The proposed currency known as the 'Eco' will precede an ambitious plan to adopt a monetary union for the entire West African region. Is the Eco achievable? What's in it for businesses in the region?
