The government of Senegal is selling the country’s biggest hotel complex to settle debts running to million of dollars to local businesses.
The 5 star King Fahd Hotel complex located on land protruding into the Atlantic Ocean was built by the Saudi monarch for the Islamic conference summit in 1993.
The hotel is on a 35 hectare site which includes a 9-hole golf course. It has 384 rooms and a conference centre, and is currently operated under the Meridien brand of the US listed Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
A public tender carried in local newspapers invited bids from local or international investors, but gave no price guidance.
