Zambia is inviting investors to establish industries in a special tax free zone located in the mineral-rich Copperbelt.
Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane says investors are needed to create industries that would process raw materials such as copper, as well as manufacture some of the components used in mining which are currently imported.
Zambia is Africa's top copper producer.
China Nonferrous Metal Mining (CNMC), which has promoted development of the zone, plans to invest $300 million between 2010 and 2011 in projects such as the Chambishi copper smelter.
Zambia and CNMC are developing another tax free zone in Lusaka, that would host companies specialising in light engineering and international conferencing.
