UAE firm looking for long-term lease on Tanzanian farmland

A United Arab Emirates-based firm is seeking a 98-year lease on large areas of farmland in Tanzania to grow rice in order to secure food supplies for Gulf countries.

ThisDay reported the Pharos Miro Agriculture Fund is planning to secure 50,000 hectares of land in Tanzania this year.

The fund is focused on acquiring and managing agricultural land holdings in Eastern Europe, Eurasia and Africa.
