Kagame wants more investment in agriculture
Tue, 08 Dec 2009 12:01Rwandan President Paul Kagame yesterday called upon African countries to invest more money in the agricultural sector in order to address the problem of food security and transform one of the major engines for growth and prosperity.
The President was speaking at a two-day meeting of the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development (CAADP), which opened in Kigali yesterday.
The agricultural sector is huge employer and contributor to GDP throughout the continent. Kagame noted the potential of agriculture to drive growth, as has been the case in Rwanda, and the need for African countries to implement strategies to exploit this growth potential.
