Ethiopia’s coffee industry is looking to improve exports with the opening of a quality control centre, reports bizcommunity.com.
The Quality Certification Centre and Warehouse Operation in Hawassa is expected to improve Ethiopian coffee’s standing in the specialty market, said the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange. Ethiopia is the world’s sixth-largest producer of coffee and is thought to be the birthplace of coffee.
The centre is part of an effort to promote Ethiopian coffee after winning a protracted branding dispute with Starbucks in 2007.
