Project: Chirundu shopping complex
Location: 5km away from the Chirundu border, an area ideal for a clearing port.
Summary: The objective of the project is to develop a shopping complex with a fee paying parking lot for trucks and cars, and lodging facilities to cater for motorists who take up to four days four days clearing goods at the border. The Zambia Revenue Authority clears an average of 400 trucks per day. The lease rights for the US$5-million land identified for the project can be ceded to a guarantor as part of collateral.
Cost of investment: Estimated is US$10-million.
ROI: A minimum income of US$760 000 per annum on car port and lodging facilities at 60% occupancy rate would be realised. This does not include other value added services, which may be integrated into the project.
