Name of project: Fish farm

Project description: This is a Tilapia farming project that proposes to use cage culture methodology. The promoters plan to up fish production levels to 5,000 tons per annum by the fourth year of initial production. The project is a green field investment with two lots of land measuring 90 and 4.5 hectares. Both lots have a shoreline on Lake Kariba.

Promoter:  Aqua Harvest Limited

Project location: Siavonga. The site is 2 hours drive from Lusaka on good all weather road.

Market analysis
Local market short fall of fish is currently 35, 000 tons per annum. Zambia is importing tilapia from China and Zimbabwe, and local small-scale fishermen provide some quantity as well. Interested investors will serve the local market and also have access to a huge regional market, especially in the Central Africa Republic, Angola and Gabon.

Availability of inputs: Infrastructure development materials will be sourced locally while cage generators, freezers and processing equipment will be imported.
