Investment opportunity: Malawi produces a wide range of fruits and is seeking to establish a vibrant fruit processing industry. The government is seeking investors to establish a fruit processing plant, which will produce concentrate, jams, dried and canned fruit. The investment would be located in the southern region where a variety of fruits such as pineapples, tangerines, mangoes, bananas and avocados are farmed. To provide a sufficient source of materials for the processing plant, the government is inviting interested companies to establish large-scale fruit farms.

Market: Local, with potential for international market.

Incentives: 100% investment allowance on expenditure for new buildings and machinery, 50% allowance for qualifying training costs and allowance for manufacturing companies to deduct all operating expenses incurred up to 25 months prior to start of business.
