Project: Malaria drug manufacturing plant
Summary: The project is greenfield and promotes growing and processing of Artemesia Annua - a derivative from the plant would be used in manufacturing malaria drugs. Several studies and trials have been undertaken to determine the feasibility of the project. The Lands Bank Committee has identified land for the project and an outgrower scheme is recommended. Zambia is currently importing similar drugs and wishes to start producing the drugs locally. The ministry of health has undertaken to supply the drugs locally and regionally.
