Investment opportunities in Rwanda's manufacturing sector

Textiles and apparel: Establish new apparel factories. UTEXRWA, the only industrial-scale apparel manufacturer in Rwanda, has established contacts with potential international buyers such Wal-Mart but is constrained by low production capacity. New factories would help boost production.

Crafts: Set up production facilities to house the fragmented producers countrywide - this situation reduces the capacity to deal with large orders. Rwanda’s crafts are eligible for duty-free entry into the US market under AGOA. The main products are baskets, beadwork, metalwork, wood and stone sculptures, dolls, artisan tanning, hand-printed stationery and hand-loomed textiles.

Other investment opportunities: Production of cooking oil, production of zinc oxide, processing of leather products, production of plastic bottles, paper mill and printing, general paper packaging, manufacture of wood and metal products, and setting up a pharmaceutical plant.

Further information on opportunities in the manufacturing sector is available from the Rwanda Investment and Export Promotion Agency (RIEPA).
