Summary:
TradeInvestAfrica has showcased potentially lucrative investment opportunities in Africa's tourism sector, which is rebounding phenomenally this year buoyed by among other factors, South Africa's success in hosting the 2010 World Cup.

The tourism sector in sub-Saharan Africa is rebounding after the slow down caused by the economic crisis. The World Travel & Tourism Council in 2010 issued a very positive outlook for the sector that said it would contribute over 9% of the region’s growth domestic product (GDP) over the next decade.

Many investment opportunities have been identified as a result of concerted efforts to promote tourism. This includes building of new hotels and other tourist facilities and deploying tourism infrastructure.

Africa is already popular with tourists and tourism investors. South Africa’s successful hosting of the 2010 World Cup is expected to phenomenally alter the landscape for tourism, particularly in southern Africa. Professional consultants Grant Thornton predict that thanks to the World Cup, there will be an extra 1.5 million overseas visitors in the region until 2015.

In order to change negative perceptions and encourage further investment, governments in Africa are improving regulatory and legal frameworks.
